Florida Fence & Pergola Permit Plans Guide
What your local building department typically expects, the plan types we offer, and where we serve — statewide across Florida.
Why your fence or pergola project needs an engineered plan
Most Florida building departments require a permit before a new fence, gate, or pergola is installed — especially for taller fences, pool barrier fencing, or any structure that needs to meet local wind-load and structural requirements. A signed-and-sealed engineering plan, prepared and stamped by an independent licensed professional engineer, is the standard document building departments request to review a permit application.
Requirements vary by city and county, so always confirm the specific submission requirements with your local building department before applying. Illusion Fence Planning, LLC sells and coordinates these engineering plans; the professional engineering services themselves — preparation, signature, and seal — are performed by an independent licensed professional engineer, not by Illusion Fence Planning, LLC directly.
